Awkwafina
American actor and musician Awkwafina made her debut with humorous rap tracks that tackled sexuality and racial identities with a an incisive and humorous perspective, before expanding her repertoire to Hollywood. Nora Lum was born to Chinese Koreans living in Forest Hills Queens. Her first exposure to music was from the trumpet. Classical, jazz and hip-hop studies began when she was a teenager. While in college, she remained focused on her studies, majoring in journalism and women's studies. While spending a few days of time in Beijing and she also took classes in Mandarin. Then, after graduation, that she shifted her focus on music. Her track My Vag, a response track to the Mickey Avalon's My Dick gained viral popularity via the Internet in the year 2012. The track was later included on her debut album Yellow Ranger released in 2014. Other viral hits included the queef, a body positive track and the equally winking NYC Bitchecity tour. The track also appeared in Awkwafina's NYC travel guide, published in the year 2015. She began pursuing acting career following the completion of her previous two ventures as a musician and author. As well as early shows like Girl Code and Tawk she was also featured in movies like Neighbors 2 Storks and Bad Rap. In 2018, she was able to land breakthrough roles in a handful of notable films, including Dude Ocean's 8, and Crazy Rich Asians. Her debut EP, In Fina We Trust in June of that year.
