Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero (born Patricia Apollonia Kotero) is a famous American performer, actress, and former model. She is best known as the star of the 1984 Prince Purple Rain film and lead singer of the girl group Apollonia 6 Apollonia is a singer/actress who was who was christened by Prince in 1984, became one of many female singers of the 1980s who benefitted from Prince. Patricia Kotero, born 1959 in Santa Monica California began her career as a model and actress. In the late 70s she appeared on CHiPS. She was the lead female for Prince's Purple Rain in 1984 (at which point he had changed his name). At the time of that year, she was replaced by Vanity as part of the trio Vanity 6 and performed with them under the brand name Apollonia 6 in the film. The singer made a bigger impact on the charts as Prince's partner in Take Me with You, the duet on his soundtrack. Kotero cut ties with Prince after differences during the course of their careers. Apollonia 6 broke up due to their disagreement. Kotero went on to be featured in a few minor roles during this time (reportedly not wanting to be in the Purple Rain follow-up Under the Cherry Moon) and then landed in the role of a nighttime television drama Falcon Crest during 1985-1986. Apollonia's debut album was released in 1988. But the R&B/dance tracks weren't well-received by the music buying public. They soon ceased to exist. The actress continued acting (if somewhat unnoticed) during the subsequent decade. The small roles on TV as well as minor film roles and exercise videos kept her busy. Apollonia released a bilingual album in Spanish and English called Stay with Me in 1997. Then, she went back to school and earned an education in filmmaking. In addition, she founded her own production firm. Apollonia Kotero has many roles. She was a model, actress, and manager of talent. She was in 1984 when she was recognized for her performance on the show Purple Rain. Other films and shows that Kotero was a part of include Black Magic Woman and The Divorce Ceremony.
